Abstract


The aim of this work was to study the relationship between beta 2-adrenergic receptor polymorphism at amino acid 16 and bronchial asthma severity, atopy and response to treatment by broncho dilators e.g. : salbutamol.
This study included 34 subjects, of which 24 patient with bronchial asthma and 10 healthy subject from the chest department of Ain Shams university hospital during the period between February till July 2002.
They were divided into 3 groups:-•
1. Control group:
Included 10 healthy subjects with no history suggestive of bronchial asthma or atopic illness.
2. Mild asthma group: Included 12 patients.
3. Sever asthma group: Included 12 patients.
They were subjected to:
1- Full history taking.
2clinical examination.
3- skin prick test.
