Abstract

Four field experiments were conducted on calcareous soil at the Experimental Research Farm of Nubaria Research Station, Agricultural Research Center ( ARC ).

I. Response of maize cultivars to foliar spraying of microelements and its application time:

Two field experiments were conducted during 1995 and 1996 seasons. A split-split plot design with four replications was used. The main plots were randomly assigned to cultivars, the sub-plots to microelements and the sub-sub-plots to spraying time as follows :

A. Maize cultivars :

1. Single cross 10 (SC. 1 0).

2. Three-way cross 320 (TWC 320).

3. Giza 2.

B. Microelements :

Seven foliar spraying treatments with microelement solutions as well as water as control were used as follows :

1. Zinc sulphate, Zn S04. 7 H20 (l g/L).

2. Iron sulphate, Fe S04. 7 H 20 (1 giL.).
---- 3. Manganese sulphate, Mn S04. HzO (1 g/L)
4. 1 g Zinc sulphate + 1 g Iron sulphate/L.

5. 1 g Zinc sulphate + 1 g Manganese sulphate IL.

6. 1 g Iron sulphate + 1 g Manganese sulphate/L.
