Abstract


Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the intensive care unit providing best possible patient care is the most important goal of any health care facility. Adequate nursing management for COPD patients during weaning from mechanical ventilation can prevent occurrence of many complications. The critical care nurses should follow mechanical ventilator weaning strategies for identifying patients at high risk for extubation failure, it is essential to improve the management of weaning and extubation to prevent weaning complications.
Aim of the study:
The present study was conducted to fulfill the following:
 Assess the nurses’ performance (knowledge, practice and attitude) during weaning from mechanical ventilator for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Research Question:
This study was conducted for answering the following questions:
 What is the level of nurses’ performance (knowledge, practice and attitude) during weaning from mechanical ventilator for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease?
