The Effect of Visual Thinking on Developing the Adult Learners' English Language Fluency

Abstract


This study aimed to develop adult learners' English Language Fluency (ELF). To identify the differences in the learners' WF, the researcher designed a rubric, and the pre / posttest. Then the researcher designed the program to develop the learners' WF through program based on VT. The researcher applied a program to the target learners. Participants were 14 adult learners (N= 14), enrolled in the upper intermediate level, Telecom Egypt Training Institute (TETI). They received a five-week intensive English language instruction, two sessions a week, to boost their WF. The learners' scores on the pre / posttest were statistically analyzed using t-test and the effect size factor. In addition, qualitative analysis of the learners' progress was conducted and analyzed. Both quantitative and qualitative results revealed the positive effect of using VT on developing adult learners' English language fluency.
