Studying the enhancement of combustion and heat transfer by using annular ribs for premixed flame
AMR ALI ABBAS ALI EL-KERABY;
Abstract
An experimental study is carried out to investigate the effect of changing the axial location and the shape of the annular ribs on the heat transfer characteristics, combustion and gas analysis in the premixed flame burner. These annular ribs are inserted coaxially with a longitudinal flame tube. In order to investigate the effect of insertion the rib experimentally, a test rig is constructed in the combustion laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering of Ain Shams University. The mixture which is used in this experimental work is air and LPG fuel, the fuel is LPG where its standard HD-5 propane component is (min 90% C3H8, max 5% C3H6 and 5% C4H10 by volume). A test rig is constructed to investigate the effect of insertion square edged and triangle edged annular ribs and the location of annular ribs relative to the burner tip on the heat transfer characteristics. The experimental work is carried out for the different conditions of combustion (stoichiometric with air to fuel equivalence ratio λ=1, lean with air to fuel equivalence ratio λ=1.3 and rich with air to fuel equivalence ratio λ=0.9).
