OMENTAL PLUG TECHNIQUE IN THE TREATMENT OF PERFORATED PEPTIC ULCER

Abstract
The present study was conducted on 20 patients presented by perforated peptic ulcer. therewere 17 patients with perforated duodenal ulcer and the other 3 patients with perforated gastric ulcer.
All patients were admitted to gastrointestineal surgery and endoscopy unit, Tanta University Hospital.
Immediately. after admission, the patients were subjected to. ergent randum blood surger, Renal function tests and hamoglobin percentage.
Pre-operative investigation also included erect abdominal
X-ray and abdominal ultrasonography.
When a diagnosis of peptic ucler with perforation is established appropriate therapy is empolyed to correct any fluid deficit and electrolyte imbalance. Nasogasttic suction is instituted and broad spectrum anti-biotic therapy begun.
