PERITONEO_VENOUS SHUNT FOR TREATMENT OF INTRACTABLE ASCITES

Abstract
This study was carried out on 40 patients suffering from resistant ascites secondary to liver diseases.
The patients divided into two groups:
Group (A) tread by medical treatment, Diuretics, and paracentesis (20 patients)
Group (B) tread by Denever PVS (20 patients)
All patients were submitted to full history, thorough clinical examination, laboratory investigations that included routine investigations, liver profile and hematological profile, abdominal
ultrasound.
Group (A) : group of medical treatment and pracentesis treated by : Bed rest.
Low salt diet (2 g) per day
Fluid restriction (1000 ml) per day Diuretics, (spironlactone and furosemide). Paracentesis and Albumin I.V infusion.
The abdominal girth and body weight and urine output were daily estimated before and after treatment. The mean age of patients was
