he current retrospective study was carried out in Ain Shams University Clinical Oncology department in the period from January 2011 to December 2015, where 62 patients with multiple myeloma were evaluated regarding epidemiological data, clinical presentation and evaluation of chemotherapy protocols used for management of these cases with assessment of response and effect on survival.
In this study we notice that myeloma usually affects younger age group than generally reported with the mean age of the involved patients was 59 years with male predominance.
Sixty one percent of patients had comorbidities prior to myeloma treatment maily diabetes and hypertension and the most common presenting symptoms were bone ache, fatigue and pathological fracture.
Sixty nine percent of patients had anemia, 16.1% of patients had renal impairment, 38.7% of patients had hypoalbuminemia, 12.9% of patients had hypercalcemia, 80.6% of patients had elevated beta2- microglobulin leveland 64.5% of patients had positive Bence jones protein in urine.
