Thesis Summary
Since the invention of the computer in the 40s of the twentieth century, the speech and language processing attracted the attention of both industry and academia. This attention has exponentially increased with the huge increase of computation power of modern computers and the spread of mobile devices, resulting in a countless number of applications covering a wide spectrum of daily life arenas. Among different areas of speech and language processing, Language Identification (LID) got a significant part of research and applications. Dialect Identification (DID) is a subtask of the language identification task; therefore, all techniques and approaches used in language identification applies directly to dialect identification.
