Autophagy in osteoporosis: relation to oxidative stress

Abstract
This study was done at Medical Biochemistry Department, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University during the period from 2016 – 2018 and included 40 patients.
The current study was conducted to quantify the relative expression of Atg7 gene (autophagy related gene) and the relative expression and enzyme activity of super oxide dismutase 2 gene (SOD2) in cancellous bone tissues in patients with primary osteoporosis and in osteoporosis free control group aiming to determine their relation to the pathogenesis of osteoporosis. Thus, identifying a new path that could be amenable to future therapeutic intervention.
