Iliostomy and Mucuos fistula with and without posterior wall anastomosis after right hemicolectomy: A comparative study of short term outcomes

Sara Gomaa Syam;

Abstract

It was concluded from this study that if posterior wall anastomosis is done in right technique it‘ll give same outcomes as without anastomosis
Right technique means, tension free, nippling of ileostomy, no gaps between sutures.
The difference is in the reversal, as we got from our statistics that revealed more pain, more recovery period, long hospital stay, more wound infection and wound complications in those cases without posterior wall anastomosis.
Increasing of all of these complications is due to relaparotomy, or even if single incision, it is larger with more adhesions and operative time than in the stoma wound in cases with anastomosis.
While in, we just do direct attack to stoma site with closure of side wound with lesser complications
