Study of Podocyturia as a marker of Lupus Nephritis Activity

Fatma Elzahraa Elsayed AbdAlbadea;

Abstract

Proteinuria, a common manifestation in lupus nephritis, reflects podocyte injury and is a typical sign of kidney disease. Podocyturia had been found to be involved in the progression of lupus nephritis.
Podocyturia could be used as early marker of glomerular damage and for follow-up and after the prescription of therapy.
The current study is aimed to assess the Urinary podocin level (podocyte-specific protein detected in urine using Antipodocin Antibody ELISA kit) as an early marker of the glomerular lesion in patients with lupus nephritis.
