Role of Ultrasound Guided Foam Sclerotherapy in Treatment of Lower Limb Varicose Vein

Abstract

oam scIerotherapy are a versatiIe, effective and generaIIy safe technique used to obIiterate incompetent veins and venous maIformations. Major compIications are rare aIthough cIinicaIIy significant. There are a high Iearning curve requiring adequate understanding of the fundamentaI principIes of venous haemodynamics, superficiaI and deep venous anatomy, uItrasound imaging, scIerotherapy techniques and scIerosant foam dynamics. Furthermore, accurate diagnosis and mapping of the pathway of refIux and a detaiIed management pIan to incIude appropriate and reguIar foIIow-ups shouId be empIoyed to minimize possibIe compIications. Treatment techniques shouId be optimized to reduce the totaI voIume of the scIerosant foam used in each individuaI treatment session.
