Abstract


Upper eyelid entropion is commonly cicatricial in nature. It can result from inflammatory conditions, trauma, burns, or infections. Morbidity associated with entropion can be significant, leading to prolonged discomfort in mild cases, to corneal decompensation, infection, and blindness in more severe cases.
An effective surgical technique for correction of upper eyelid entropion trichiasis should address the salient underlying pathophysiology and the post-surgical esthetic features.
Eyelid trichiasis often combined with vertical eyelid skin redundancy and the pretarsal portion of orbicularis spasmus and hypertrophy; in addition a protruding orbital fat and dermatochalisis will aggravate the condition.
