Microbiological and Molecular Studies on Carbapenem Resistant Enterobacteriaceae in Egypt

Abstract
Recently, Carbapenem resistance becomes critical issue that pays attention all over the world due to their ability to spread rapidly in different countries and also the lack of other treatment options.
In this study, 112 clinical isolates were obtained from Al-Kasr Al-Aieny hospitals. The specimens were collected by physician from different sources: from urine 37.5% followed by wound 27.7%, sputum 18.8%,blood 5% and 10.7% from others sites. The patients were suffered from different types of infections and had various age stages. Most infectionswere urinary tract infections 26.8% followed by respiratory tract infections 18.8%.
