Clinical Patterns of Facial Aging among Egyptian Females
Amany Abdelaziz Ali;
Abstract
ging is a physiological process which affects all body organs but when it comes to skin especially face it becomes a distressing matter, because it is the most expressive part of the human body, responsible for visual evaluation, recognition and social interaction.
Skin aging occurs by combined mechanisms, intrinsic as hereditary factors or hormonal factors and extrinsic as UVR and smoking. The combination of these factors and others lead to the appearance of signs of aged skin clinically in the form of atrophy, laxity, sagging, dryness, dyspigmentation, telangiectasia and wrinkles.
The increasing interest in surgical and nonsurgical (e.g., fillers, botulinum toxin, skin resurfacing) methods to improve the appearance of facial wrinkles and other signs of aging requires the development of techniques to measure the severity of aging signs.
