The Effect of Anesthesia and Analgesia on Control of Breathing after Bariatric Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Control Trials
Maria Moheb Labib;
Abstract
besity has defined the last few decades as one of the most concerning health problems even described as an epidemic in some countries, that is related to the co-morbidities associated with it as hypertension, diabetes and ischemic heart disease.
Several modalities have been studied to treat obesity and establish weight reduction; one of the most effective modality was bariatric surgeries, especially in height BMI patients who fail to reduce their weights, with an improvement in their associated co-morbidities and establishing weight loss in short time.
Bariatric surgeries have evolved over years to gain the most effective results with the least complications, however the effects of general anesthesia and mechanical ventilations of the morbid obese patients remained a serious concern either its effect on hemodynamics or respiration intra and post-operative.
