AN ECONOMIC SMART DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM
Shady Salah Moustafa Mohamed;
Abstract
Optimizing energy performance in buildings won't be an option in the nearest future; it is considered the responsibility of all stakeholders to apply the smart building aspects to meet the rapid development of this technology. As the manufacturers start developing the components of smart distribution systems, it is the designers role to implement their usage in efficient ways helping the end users and facility managers (building operators) maximizing the economic efficiency (energysaving and reducing bills) and facilitating maintenance procedures. Therefore, this thesis will focus on executing an economic smart distribution system.
The thesis has utilized a case study for a bank as an administrative building in Egypt to evaluate the effect of using the conventional panel and then the implementation of smart meters moving to check the benefits of the available smart panels and finally suggesting a new proposal for an economic smart panels system to achieve an optimized energy management system with lower cost. Detailed technical and economical comparisons between the three distribution systems “conventional, smart and new proposed system” are fully investigated in the thesis.
