EFFECT OF USING SILVER NANOPARTICLES FOR DISINFECTING HATCHING QUAIL EGGS ON HATCHABILITY AND POST-HATCH PERFORMANCE

ABDALLAH SAMI IBRAHIM HASSAN;

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of using Silver Nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) as a disinfectant (30, 40 and 50 ppm)compared to commercial disinfectant (TH4) on eggshell microbes, hatchability traits, embryonic mortality, chick quality, post-hatch performance, carcass and organs relative weights and liver histological structure in quail. Hatching eggs treatment with disinfectants are often used by the poultry farms to improved hatchability, chick quality, reduced embryonic mortality and keeping quality by reducing the microbial contamination on the eggshell surface. Recently, Nanotechnology plays a major role in the areas of research in poultry science. The antimicrobial properties of silver combined with nanomaterial properties have given rise to a new generation of disinfectants.
