Influence of using zirconia primer on some properties of two resin cements bonded to zirconia
Yasmin Ezz El Din Mahmoud;
Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effect of zirconia primer on zirconia bonding, water sorption, solubility and degree of conversion of resin cements. Two resin cements (conventional and self-adhesive) were chosen to ensure if using primer with self-adhesive cement will be more beneficial for bonding and investigate the compatibility between the resin cements and the primer.
The primer was added to zirconia discs and resin cement cylindrical specimens were prepared on them to test the bond strength. Shear bond strength was measured in comparison with other specimens without primer application. The specimens were stored in distilled water before testing. Half of the specimens were tested at 24 hours and the remaining specimens were tested after 6 months. Bond strength testing was performed using a universal testing machine.
