Cystatin C and Brain Natriuretic Peptide and their Relations to Structural and Functional Cardiac Changes in Children with Chronic Kidney Disease
Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Nasr El Sharawy;
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Background: Identifying serum biomarkers that are useful in profiling cardiovascular risk and enabling stratification of early mortality and cardiovascular risk is an important goal in the treatment of CKD patients.
Aim of the Work: The purpose of the current study was to assess the value of Cystatin C (Cys C) and N-terminal of the prohormone brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) as markers for the early detection of functional and structural cardiac changes in CKD patients and comparing them to the conventional use of serum creatinine.
