Studies on Staphylococcus aureus polyvalent vaccine to control mastitis among dairy cows in Egypt

Ashraf Megahed Abd Elmaksoud El Sheikh Eissa;

Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus is a common pathogen in dairy cattle. It causes various forms of clinical, subclinical, chronic and recurrent mastitis, in some dairy herds in Egypt. In herds where regular biosecurity measures fail, immunization with a protective vaccine may be an additional tool to prevent infection if the vaccine used is sufficiently effective. Although significant improvements have been made in recent years in identifying the causes of mastitis in cattle, this concern has not focused on the vaccination as a preventive strategy to control mastitis. A successful Staphylococcus aureus vaccine should trigger a long-term antibody response to prevent infection.
