Abstract


In this thesis, modeling and design the hybrid energy systems are presented. A brief description of the modeling of the renewable energy generators; wind turbine generator, PV array and energy storage are introduced, the system dispatch strategies are also described. The different optimization technique algorithms are also discussed, such as Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Hybrid GAPSO (HGAPSO) which is the hybrid of GA and PSO. HOMER software working principle is discussed, which is the commercial software tools for hybrid system sizing and give a brief comparison between these different algorithms and how the algorithms used to find the optimum parameters of the controller. Finally, a case study is presented for the design and modeling of the hybrid standalone renewable power system and the simulation and optimization results are expressed.
