Abstract


Stress is a part of life, while there is no way for its prevention, it is possible to reduce it. Stress in the nursmg professional IS widespread and evidence
suggests; it is increasing in both its severity and impact. The work place is a major source of stress for nurses especially the nature of the work. Critical care nurses have been the focus of more sources of stress than other population of nurses.
The aim of this study was to assess sources of stress among nurses who were working in critical areas and this aim was achieved through:
!)Assessing types and sources of stress among nurses working in critical areas.
2) Assessing effect of stress on nurses working in critical areas.
This study was carried on all available nurses 150 staff nurses who were working in critical areas at Ain Shams University Specialized Hospital, the sample's age ranged from 18 to 55 years old from both sexes.
