Assessment of Gonadal Functions in Survivors of Childhood Malignancy

Abstract
This study was carried in the Haematology Oncology
Unit Children's Hospital, Ain Shams University and included
40 patients - 13 females and 27 males treated for a childhood cancer and completed therapy with continuous maintained remission for at least 1 year.
This study aimed at evaluation of gonadal function and effect of cancer therapy in cancer survivors.
For every patient the following rilethods were done :
• Thorough history and clinical examination.
• For the female group :
Detennination of serum FSH, LH and estrogen levels.
Pelvi-abdominal ultrasound.
• For the male group :
Detennination of serum FSH, LH and testosterone levels.
Testicular ultrasound.
Semen analysis (for those who could provide the sample).
• The results of this study revealed.
