PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF INTEGRATED FIXED FILM ACTIVATED SLUDGE (IFAS) USED IN TREATING SYNTHETIC MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER
Sara Ayman Mohamed Rashed;
Abstract
The specific objectives of this thesis are to examine the effect of converting a conventional activated sludge system to a hybrid system integrated fixed film activated sludge by using a fixed media. The effect of the fixed media positions on the performance of a lab-scale IFAS in terms of organic removal and nutrient removal, and to control the reactor operating conditions to optimize of the nitrification denitrification process like hydraulic retention time and organic loading rate. The study was carried out in Imyay WWTP, Qalubia – Egypt focuses on OM removal, microbial growth and activity together with nutrient removal was included
