The Effect of New Formulations of Hyaluronic Acid Incorporated with MTA on the Repair of Periapical Lesions
Hazem Mohamed Raief Mosaad;
Abstract
This study evaluated the effect of hyaluronic acid when incorporated with MTA as a retrogrde filling material and in different delivery system as an injection. This required the evaluation of the physical properties of the new mix (MTA/Hyaluronic acid mix), sealing ability and their healing potentiality to provide adequate characherization of the new material.
The physical properties (W/P ratio, setting time, solubility, dimensionl changes, radiopacity and hydrogen ion potential PH). The tests were performed according to ANSI/ADA specification no. 57 for endodontic sealing material.
Sealing ability was tested using fluid filtration method at different time intervals (24hrs, 1 week, 1month and 3 months).
The healing potentiality were tested on dogs after the induction of periapical lesions, then after 45 days after confirming the production of periapical lesion radiographically, the teeth were cleaned, shaped and obturated using cold lateral condensation technique, then after 2 weeks, surgical procedures were performed according to the grouping system and a negative control group
