Pulmonary Involvement in Egyptian Juvenile Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Abstract


Pulmonary disease Is . a frequent and serious manifestation of childhood SLE.

The ann of our study was to investigate the frequency of pulmonary involvement in childhood onset SLE, to determine the relationship between pulmonary disease and parameter of disease activity, and to find any correlation between pulmonary affection and other system involvement in juvenile SLE.

The study included 74 SLE patients divided into 2 groups according to presence or absence of pulmonary manifestations. Positive pulmonary cases were 20 out of 74 and all of them were in group I confirmed by pulmonary scintagraphy.

A significant statistical relation was detected between pulmonary affection and both CNS and renal involvement as p = 0.04, 0.03, while there was no significant statistical relation detected between pulmonary affection and both cardiac involvement or disease activity as p= 0.55,
