Abstract
Structural and magnetic properties of sodium cobalt ferrite (Na-CFO) nanostructure which subsequently modified with Sr, Mn and Zr cations have been investigated. The citrate sol gel method was used to synthesize sodium cobalt ferrite nanoparticles (CFO NPs) with the chemical compositions NaxCo(1-x)Fe2O4 (where x = 0.25, 0.5, 0.75), SrxNa(0.5-x)Co0.5Fe2O4 (where x = 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3), MnxNa0.5Co(0.5-x)Fe2O4 (where x = 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5) and ZrxNa0.5Co(0.5-x)Fe2O4 (where x = 0.2 and 0.4) which then calcinated at 800oC for 3h in air. The crystalline phase morphological and magnetic analyses were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), high resolution scanning and transmission electron microscopy (HR-SEM/HR-TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The single phase XRD pattern confirmed the successful introduction of the Na cations into CFO lattice and the same result was obtained for all the other modified systems. Incorporation of Na+ ions in pure CFO network decreases the crystallite size and increases the system porosity.
