Management of wheezing in infant and children

Abstract


Immunodefeciency states presenting with recurrent respiratory infections especially rales , rhonchi , wheezing and digital clubbing . Treatment includes intravenous irnmunoglobulin replacement therapy and antibiotics.

Mucociliary clearence disorders as cystic fibrosis are usually presented with poor growth , wheezing , coughing and shortness of breath . Treatment includes intravenous, inhaled and oral antibiotics .

Primary ciliary dyskinesia is genetic defect in the action of the respiratory cilia and manifested with respiratory distress , wheezing and coughing and treated with aggressive airway clearence and resolving respiratory infections.

Bronchiectasis is a localized dilatation of a part of the bronchial tree and manifested with chronic cough , wheeaing , rhonchi and digital clubbing . Treatment is by chest physiotherapy, mucolytic agents and antibiotics .
