Abstract

The science of refrigeration and air conditioning is a corner stone of modern life. Our homes, offices and commercial facilities would not be suitable for modern life without refrigeration and air conditioning appliances. The quality and accuracy of control of refrigeration and air conditioning systems have been also a sign of luxury, healthy life and a way to improve human productivity. On the other hand, these systems require better, faster and more economical operation strategy to reduce the energy consumption and increase the system efficiency. The selection of a suitable refrigerant is the most important parameter that determine the quality of operation of the refrigeration system. The following part is discussing the different types, chemical composition and properties of the refrigerants used in refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
