LABORATORY STUDY OF ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY BY NANOCOMPOSITE POLYMER FLOODING

Maryana Emad Helmi Youssef;

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to investigate experimentally the effect of nanocomposite polymer in enhancing Egyptian crude oil recovery. Therefore, several experimental measurements and flood runs were carried out at different conditions. The critical polymer and nanocomposite polymer concentrations were determined. In addition, the highest salinity value that didn’t cause a degradation for both polymer and nanocomposite polymer solutions were observed. Through the experimental flood runs, the optimum slug sizes of both polymer and nanocomposite polymer were selected. Furthermore, the highest temperatures that both polymer and nanocomposite polymer could stand for without thermal degradation were perceived. Also, the effect of polymer and nanocomposite polymer flooding on the water-oil relative permeability curve was recognized.
