Abstract


P. spinifex (L.) Cav. and B. repens Nees are belonging to the largest genera of the Malvaceae and Acanthaceae family respectively with about 250 species they are mostly grow in tropical and subtropical regions.
Barleria and Pavonia species also shows various pharmacological effects such as antimicrobial, anthelminthic, anti-fertility, antioxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-arthritic, hepato-protective, diuretic, cytoprotective, antidiarrheal, analgesic, antileukemic, anti-inflammatory and hypoglycemic properties without any toxic effects.
