Ahmed Mohammed Mohy Eldin Abdelhamied Abo Sekkien;

Abstract

The metabolic profiling performed for ETN were compared to that of STN and the compounds in both extracts were as follows:
1- The major polyphenols of ETN were: coniferyl alcohol-sulphate 11.08 %, ferulic acid sulphate derivative 20.07 % and methyl ferulate-sulphate 21.29 %, gallic acid 3.89 %. In addition to other minor compounds including: nilocitin 1.57 %, kaempferol 2.7 %, methyl gallate-methyl ether 2.8 %, ferulic acid isomer 0.14 %, tamarixetin 1.26 %, kaempferide 2.51 % and tamarixetin-sulphate 2.84 %, whereas tamarixetin-hexoside, kaempferol-glucuronide, kaempferol-dimethyl ether-sulphate and kaempferol-methyl ether-sulphate were found as traces.

2- The major polyphenols in the STN extract were as follows: Kaempferol-methyl ether-sulphate 43.8 %, methyl ferulate-sulphate 19.36 %, ferulic acid sulphate derivative 8.14 % and tamarixetin-sulphate 4.04 %. Furthermore, other minor compounds were found including coniferyl alcohol-sulphate 2.91%, kaempferol-glucruonide 1.02 %, kaempferide 0.46%, gallic acid 1.5 % and nilocitin 0.92 %, whereas, methyl gallate-methyl ether, tamarixetin and kaempferol-dimethyl ether-sulphate were found as traces.
Major components are presented in both extracts as follows:
1- The major polyphenols of ETN showed different concentrations in STN with the following percentages: coniferyl alcohol-sulphate 2.91 %, ferulic acid sulphate derivative 8.14 % and methyl ferulate-sulphate 19.36 %.

2- The major polyphenols of STN showed different concentrations in ETN with the following percentages: Methyl ferulate-sulphate 21.29 %, ferulic acid sulphate derivative 20.07 % and tamarixetin-sulphate 2.84 % while Kaempferol-methyl ether-sulphate appeared as traces
