Abstract


Because of the economic importance of equines in Egypt specially Arabian native horses and their great value not only in Egypt but allover the world. the Egyptian Veterinary Authorities directed its attention towards protecting this species from dangerous diseases affecting it particularly, African Horse Sickness, through the control of these diseases via vaccination process.
The aim of this study is to prepare an effective and safe bivalent AHS (against serotypes 4 and 9) inactivated vaccines and experimentally inoculating these vaccines into susceptible horses then studying their immune response post-vaccination.
So, the study comprises the following investigation points:
1. Preparation of two types of bivalent inactivated AHS
vaccines against serotypes 4 and 9 as follows :
a. Bivalent inactivated AHS oil adjuvated vaccine and, b. Bivalent inactivated AHS rehydragel vaccine.
2. The preparatory steps are as follows :
2.1. Preparation of seed virus fluid :
Each AHSV serotype (4 and 9) were separately propagated in VERO
cells and harvested after appearance of 80% CPE.
