COMPARATIVE MORPHOLOGICAL STUDIES ON THE FEMALE GENITAL ORGANS OF RUMINANTS IN EGYPT

Abstract
The present work was carried out on non-pregnant apparently normal genital organs, which obtained from 112 cow, 120 buffalo,
132 ewe, 100 goat and 90 she-she camel for the anatomical studies.
All these animals were pleuriparous animals as shown from their well developed udder and genitalia as well as the using of established facts of dentation.
The fresh genital organs were collected after slaughtering as soon as possible and dissected free from the surrounding structures then they were classified according to the structure present on the ovary into follicular or luteal phases. The collected specimens were subjected to an anatomical description.
The anatomical study revealed that: The ovary:
1. The shape and size of the ovary were varied among the studied
animals and according to the follicular and luteal phase.
2. Regarding the parameters of the size (length, width and thickness) and weight of the ovary of the ruminants in Egypt. The present work achieved that it can be ranged from high value to the lowest one as follows: the cow (3.9, 2.5, 1.9 em) and 7.7 gm; she camel (2.8, 2.3, 1.45) and 4.75 gm; the buffalo (2.1, 1.7., 1.5 em) and 3.7 gm; the ewe (1.75, 1.6, 1.0 em) and 1.7 gm and the goat (1.5, 1.15,
0.95 em) and 1.15 gm during the follicular phase.
3. The Graafian follicle in all examined specimens was shown as a smooth, round protmsion with thin and transparent wall.
4. The shape and size of the C.L. were differed among the animal
under investigation.
5. In the goat, our results revealed that the presence of 1-3 Corpus luteum on the surface of the ovary. The C.L.
