THE EFFECT OF MANDIBULAR OVERDENTURE ON A UNILATERALLY AND BILATERALLY LOCATED ABUTMENTS

Abstract

A study was carried out to evaluate the effect of mandibular overdenture on abutments when they are unilaterally & bilaterally located. In this study 15 patients were selected from the out patient clinic of oral prosthodontic department Faculty of oral & dental medicine. Cairo University ofboth sexes withtheir age ranged from 40-55 years. The selected cases were free from any systemic disease. The selected cases were classified into three groups: Group A: had remain bilateral mandibular canines. Group B: had mandibular canine & 2nd bicuspid unilaterally located. Group C: had 2nd bicuspids laterally located. All cases where subjected to clinical as well as radiographic examination. • Clinical examination involved: 1. determination of gingival index scores. 2. Pocket depth. 3. Crevicular fluid volume. Radiographic examination was carried out using panoramic and detailed narrow beam radiographs.
