Abstract
The present study was carried out in the Taxonomic Unit Lab (TUL) of Botany Department, Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University.
The macromorphological, molecular and phytochemical characters of 26 taxa belonging to 15 genera of family Myrtaceae were examined by LM and SEM to seek out the infrafamilial relationships between Myrtoideae and Leptospermoideae subfamilies. These taxa were collected from Mazhar Botanical Garden, Al-Bragil, Giza, Egypt during spring season of 2015, and identified according to Baily (1949) and Baily and Baily (1976).
The practical approaches utilized in the present study are summarized as follows:
1) The macromorphological characters of the leaves were documented directly from the fresh specimens.
2) The lamina vein architecture characters were studied after bleaching the leaves using household bleach by aid of stereo microscope.
3) LM and SEM were used to examine the lamina epidermal characters.
4) The level of polymorphism and genetic specific markers were detected using SCoT markers
