Abstract
Abstract
Cardiac catheterization (CC) is a complex procedure involves insertion of a catheter into the heart and the surrounding vessels to obtain detailed information about the structure and function of the heart and circulatory system. The aims of this study was 1- Assess the nurses' performance regarding patients’ safety after cardiac catheterization.2-Identify the factors affecting the nurses' performance regarding patients' safety after cardiac catheterization. Study design: a descriptive study was used to achieve the aim of this study Subject: A convenient sample of all available nurses (40) caring for patients after CC were recruited. Tools: two tools were used for data collection; 1st tool was self-administered questionnaire sheet and the 2nd tool was nurses’ practice observational checklist. Results and conclusion the results of this study showed that, (77.5%) of the studied nurses were having unsatisfactory level of knowledge, (70%) were having negative attitude and all of them (100.0%) had got unsatisfactory level of practice. Many factors affecting negatively on nurses' performance namely (nursing related factors, professional support related factors, job satisfaction related factors, safety measures related factors and work environment related factors (55%, 65%, 57.5%, 62.5% & 55%) respectively. Recommendation In-service training program must be developed for nurses based on their need assessment regarding patients' safety after CC. and evaluate the effect of its implementation on their performance and patients' outcome.
