Preparation of Polymeric and Nano Composite Materials Using Gamma Radiation and Studying Its Applications
Maysara Elsayed Aboulfotouh;
Abstract
The goal of this study is the enhancement of the reverse osmosis membranes by using the direct γ-radiation grafting on individual monomers such as N-isopropyl acrylamide (NIPAM), butyl methacrylate (BMA) and also its comonomer composition onto PA(TFC) commercial membranes, in addition to the modification by zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs).
This technique has been to develop the reverse osmosis membrane properties; such as water flux, salt rejection, chlorine resistance, antifouling and antibacterial.
The influence of the grafting conditions such as the effect of irradiation dose, monomer concentration, comonomer concentration, comonomer composition ratio and the concentration of ZnO NPs on the grafting yield was also investigated.
