Abstract
1. This study investigated the effect of different heavy metal ions on the performance and efficiency of Packed Bed Anaerobic Sludge Blanket reactor (P-UASB). Also, the mechanism of heavy metal ions removal was elaborated.
2. None Woven Poly Ester Fabric (NWPF) was used as an innovative bio bed which improves the efficiency of heavy metal ions removal. The mechanism of heavy metal removal involved the sorption (adsorption / biosorption) and precipitation in / on the surface of NWPF.
