The Role of Multi-slice CT in Preoperative Assessment of Temporal Bone in Patients Prepared to Cochlear Implantation

Abstract
The present study is a retrospective study included 20 patients with severe to profound bilateral SNHL.
All patients were referred from ENT Department of ElGalaa Military Hospital. Imaging was performed as a part of preoperative assessment in Radiodiagnosis Department in Military Hospitals by CT scanning using Siemense CT machine with 128 dual detector rows.
Patients were divided according to the onset of hearing loss into two main categories: prelingual and postlingual with the prelingual onset was the most common type representing (60%).
The patients were classified according to etiological factors of SNHL into two groups: congenital (12 cases representing 60% of cases) and acquired causes (8 cases representing 40%).
