RETINOL BINDING PROTEIN AS AN EARLY MARKER FOR SCREENING OF RENAL TUBULAR DAMAGE
Rafaat Abd El Hady- Farag El-Shemey;
Abstract
This thesis aim to compare between both urinary
1)2- microglobulin (1)2-m ) and retinol binding protein (RBP) in order to choose suitable marker of early tubular damage .Our study conducted on twenty patients of renal tubular damage (11 male & 4female) .They were chosen among those attending to Ain shams University Hospital
.Both groups of patients as well as the controls were subjected to detailed history taking and laboratory investigation to estimate urinary 1)2-m and RBP .It was
I found that patients who suffered from renal tubular
damage had higher levels of both 1)2-m &RBP and they
were significantly correlated ;but in view of stability RBP appears to have greater stability at pH <5.5 . So we conclude that RBP is a more practical and reliable index of renal tubules than !)2-m.
