EVALUATION OF SOME MUNGBEAN VARIETIES UNDER CERTAIN AGRICULTURAL TREATMENTS
ADEL MOSTAFA IBRAHEIM HESSIEN;
Abstract
An investigation was carried out during 1996 and 1998
seasons at the Kalubia Governorate, Egypt to study the effect of phosphorus fertilizer and Rhizobium inoculation on growth criteria, yield components, yield and chemical composition of mungbean varieties.
The main results obtained were as follows:
Kawmy-1 variety surpassed Varieties Giza-1 and VC-
1000 in seed yield/plant, seed yield (ton/fed) and carbohydrate yield (kg/fed) during both seasons (1996 and 1998), Giza-1 in pods No./plant and biological yield (ton/fed) in both seasons and VC-1000 in the second season, Giza-1 in pods wt./plant, pods yield (ton/fed), harvest index and crop index in the second
•season.
Also, Kawmy-1 was superior than both varieties in seeds pod and protein yield (kg/fed) in the first season. On the other hand, Giza-1 variety surpassed Kawmy-1 and VC-1000 in plant height and carbohydrate percentage in the second season, pod height and 1000-seed weight during both seasons. Whereas, VC-1000 variety was superior than Kawmy-1 and Giza-1 . varieties in protein percentage in the first season.
Rates of phosphorus fe1tilization induced significant increasing in seed yield, pods No., pods wt., branches No., plant height, seeds pod, pod height per plant, seed, pods, straw, biological yield (ton/fed) and protein yield (kg/fed) in the second season and in carbohydrate yield (kg/fed) during both seasons.
