Comparative Study in Sexual Function between Male Renal Transplant Recipient and ESRD Patients on Hemodialysis

Abstract


hronic renal failure not only affects renal function but also sexual function of male patients.
In our study, we studied the effect of chronic renal failure and renal transplantation on erection function.
In our study we had 25 end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients undergoing hemodialysis versus 25 kidney transplanted patients with age range from 22-63 years, they were randomly selected from elzaitoon, naser institute, ain shams urology and nephrology clinic and underwent evaluation of erectile function using the International Index of Erectile Function.
The erection function, Assurance of maintenance of erection, Erection and penetration, Post penetration erection, Difficulty of maintain ace erection, Satisfaction post intercourse domains of IIEF-5, showed significant better results in renal transplant group than chronic renal failure group.
