Abstract


The mm of this experimental study is to compare the titanium

&biodegradable lag screws in fixation of mandibular body fracture.




This experimental study includes two equal groups, each group contain six dogs each have an osteotomy at the body of the mandible. In group(A) the osteotomies were fixed by two titanium screws per the osteotomy while in group(B) two biodegradable screws were used per the osteotomy.



The progression of healing process was followed weekly up to four · weeks then monthly for other two months. The follow up included clinical ,radiographic &histological examination .



From the clinical ,radiographic and histological results this study concludes that :
!-Biodegradable lag screws have sufficient strength for stabilization of mandibular body fracture..



2-The hydrolysis of biodegradable lag screw do not affect the quality of bone healing.
