COMPARATIVE STUDY OF SPINAL BUPIVACAINE VERSUS BUPIVACAINE FENTANYL IN PELVI-ABDOMINAL OPERATIONS

Abstract


The present study was carried out on forty patients, ASA I or II , ranged in age between 20-40 years, of both sex and the weight ranged between 65-80 kg. They are healthy and schedul ed for elective surgery in the lower extremities and lower abdomen.
They were divided into 4 groups each group included 10 patients.



-Group I : Received hyperbaric bupivacaine 0.5% 15 mg (3ml) +

1ml sodium chloride 0.9% , to complete a total volume 4ml.
-Group II : Received hyperbaric bupivacaine 0.5% 15 mg (3ml) +

20 ug fentanyl in 1ml sodium chloride 0.9%.

-Group III :Received hyperbaric bupivacaine 0.5% 15 mg (3ml)

+10 ug fentanyl in 1ml sodium chloride 0.9%.

-Group IV :Received hyperbaric bupivacaine 0.5% 15 mg (3ml) +

5ug fentanyl in 1ml sodium chloride 0.9%.

*The patients were observed for :

(1)- . The onset of sensory and motor block (onset of anaesthesia).

(2)- The duration of motor block.

(3)- Sensory level of anaesthesia.

• (4)- The duration of intraoperative and postoperative analgesia

(duration of sensory block).
