Non-stented versus short term stenting after ureteroscopic stone retrieval: A randomized prospective trial
Ahmed Hassan Ahmed Hassan Elsergany;
Abstract
However, the placement of a stent for a short time can aid in avoiding symptoms of ureteric obstruction, as flank pain, which may occur after the procedure.
The aim of this study was to investigate if ureteric stenting for four hours after ureteroscopy can prevent the occurrence of early postoperative complications of non stented technique.
We found that the patients with ureteric catheters for only four hours expressed less pain and less need for analgesia intake at the early postoperative period in comparison to the non stented patients.
Finally, this technique is considered to be an easy and effective way for prevention of early postoperative morbidity
