Abstract

This study carried out in Assiut University Experimental Farm at EL-Ghorieb, Assiut Governorate in vvhich the soil in new reclaimed.

Two garlic cultivars, i.e. Balady and Chinese (strain Sids-40) and lcrtilizer treatments were used in the present study during 3 seasons i.e.
1998/1999, 1999/2000 and 2000/2001 to study the possibility of eliminating or/and decreasing the amount of the major inorganic fertilizers with substitution of the major elements (N, P) by using organic and/or bio-fertilizers in the production of garlic under the new reclaimed soils.

Results of this study can be summarized as follow :

1- Halady cultivar surpassed significantly Chinese in characters i.e. plant height, fresh weight of leaves/plant and number of clovcs/bul b.
2-Balady plants formed an earliest bulbing than Chinese cultivar.

3- Chinese cu ltivar gave the higher values of number of leaves/plant, fresh and cured of bulb, dry matter% of leaves and bulbs, also, total fresh and cured yields, average weight of cloves, N, K% in cloves than Balady cultivar.
4-The results showed did not significant differences between

Halady and Chinese cloves in P% and nitrate (ppm).

5- Fertilizer treatment 11 (cattle + poultry manures + Biogein +

Phosphorein + 50% NP + K) gave the highest values of most
