Absolute Eosinophilic Count & Eosinophil Leucocyte Ratio in Acute Coronary Syndrome

Mina Tuodor Wadie;

Abstract

C
ardiovascular diseases continue to be significant causes of mortality and morbidity in worldwide. Although in the past atherosclerosis was considered to be the result of passive lipid accumulation in the vessel wall, today it is considered as chronic inflammatory disease Inflammation plays an important role in the development of atherosclerosis, which can lead to acute myocardial infarction. Increased white blood cell count has been associated with a worse outcome in patients with ACS. Eosinophils are multifunctional leukocytes implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous inflammatory processes.
In our study we compared the changes in differential total leucocytic count, absolute eosinophilic count, eosinophil leucocytic ratio and ESR between patients with acute coronary syndrome and individuals without ACS.
